The Sutlej Club
Founded during the British era as an officers’ club, The Sutlej Club, Ludhiana stands as a symbol of heritage, discipline, and exclusivity. With a legacy spanning over 80 years, the Club has long been associated with distinguished individuals from the upper echelons of society. Its traditions, culture, and code of conduct continue to define the refined character of the institution.
Nestled within the verdant expanse of Rakh Bagh, Civil Lines, the Club is spread across five acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The magnificent Club building offers a serene yet prestigious environment, making it one of the most esteemed social and recreational destinations in Northern India.
With a membership of over 3,300 individuals, The Sutlej Club brings together officers, professionals, doctors, educationists, and business leaders. Backed by a strong financial foundation and managed by experienced staff, the Club offers its members an environment defined by excellence, discretion, and camaraderie.
Membership is open to ladies and gentlemen above the age of 25 years who meet the prescribed educational criteria. Applicants must hold a graduate degree or have completed a minimum three-year full-time course from a recognized university after higher secondary education.
Upon submission of the application form and payment of the requisite registration fee, the applicant’s name is registered as per Club rules. Registered applicants are permitted to utilize the Club’s sports facilities, except on Saturdays and Sundays. During this period, applicants are required to visit the Club a minimum of ten times and actively engage in sporting activities.
After a minimum period of three months, registered applicants may apply for temporary membership. Applications are evaluated by a Screening Committee appointed by the President, comprising the General Secretary and two Class I Officers from the State or Central Government. The Committee assesses the applicant’s etiquette, conduct, and reasonable proficiency in at least one sport.
Based on the Committee’s recommendations, applications are forwarded to the President, who reserves the sole discretion to approve or decline membership without assigning reasons.
After completing six months as a temporary member, individuals become eligible to apply for permanent membership, in accordance with the Club’s Constitution, rules, and established traditions.
